Tutoring

At Whetstones, we see that many students need additional supports with core academic skills, study skills, and executive functioning skills. We know that this need continues to increase, especially after the COVID-19 pandemic.

We have licensed Intervention Specialists and General Education Teachers on staff as well as volunteers providing tutoring supports to students.

Specific Skills that can be targeted with tutoring services include:

  • Reading
  • Writing
  • Math
  • Pre-Primer Skills (to include letter and number identification, letter sound, sight word instruction, etc.)
  • Phonemic Awareness
  • Decoding Strategies
  • Study Skills
  • Homework Supports
  • Executive Functioning Supports (using a planner, organization, functional academics)
  • IEP (Individualized Education Plan) support for individualized goals from a licensed Intervention Specialist

**Tutoring sessions can be scheduled WEEKLY, BIWEEKLY, and MONTHLY based on individual student need and availability of tutors.

**Tutoring sessions run for a 3 month period at a time.

**In order for a student to receive tutoring services, a parent/guardian must register their child for supports.
